Summer has arrived in San Francisco and the warmer weather and longer days have been perfect for day trips. When I think of summer, I think of shorts, sunglasses, friends, beers, and bbqs and today’s Taking Back Sunday post to Tomales Bay Oyster Company has the ingredients of my ideal summer with a little San Francisco twist – shucking and grilling oysters. TBOC is a 1 hour drive north of San Francisco in Marshall, CA (15479 Highway One, Marshall, CA 94940) where friends and family can reserve or claim tables on a first come first serve basis to grill and picnic. TBOC sells oysters, clams, and mussels by a dozen or a bag of 50 and shucking gloves and knives can be rented. It was my first time shucking oysters and my friends and I brought some beers, seasonings, fruit, chicken, and steak to grill and compliment the oysters. It was a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon and I highly recommend bookmarking TBOC as a summer picnic day trip!
