Afternoon tea (also known as high tea) is on my list of favorite meals. It is a nice alternative to brunching on the weekends. Since graduating college, my friend and I have made afternoon tea gathering an annual tradition of ours. It’s fun to dress up, catch up, and relax over tea sandwiches, pastries, scones, and a few cups of tea. Our tradition began last year at the Rose Garden Tea Room at the Huntington Library. This year, we chose the Montage in Beverly Hills. It was a beautiful dining room with great natural lighting, plush chairs and sofas, and a harp player. I couldn’t get over how pretty the teaware was! We picked the traditional tea option of 6 sandwiches, 2 scones, and 3 pastries for each person. The scones were accompanied by lemon curd, raspberry jam, and devonshire cream. Each person got to pick from a rather extensive tea list which tea they wanted. After three hours of chatting and enjoying the food and tea, we were quite full.
I found a list of 10 afternoon tea places in LA and was happy to see both the Huntington Library and Montage on the list. Looking forward to trying the rest of the list over the next 8 years! Hopefully the list will grow as well.
